Born in Entebbe, Ugandan but raised in London, UK I have always grown around exotic flavours and aromas. I distinsticly remember helping my mother in the kitchen and having to taste the food before she would serve my father or visiting guests. This exposure to bold flavours sparked a desire in me to see whether I could use science to recreate the active ingredients responsible for the aromas and flavours I was experiencing in my mothers cooking; my favourite of which was Vanilla.

Vanilla and Madagascar are often two words associated with one another, but what most people don't know, is that Ugandan vanilla bosts a higher on average Vanillin content of  2.5% in comparison to Madagascars 1.8%. While both come from the Vanilla planifolia plant, Uganda's unique equitorial climate gives its beans a higher concentration of the natural compound that delivers that classic vanilla flavour. In addition, Because of this higher vanillin concentration, Ugandan beans have an intensely bold, creamy, and somewhat earthy taste with natural undertones of figs, milk chocolate, and raisins. Madagascan vanilla is known for a classic, buttery, and sweeter profile.

It was this revelation that sparked the vision for United Vanilla. Our mission as a company is to unite the world with what scientst have proven to be  the highest quality vanilla the earth has to offer; I would say Ugandan Vanilla is 7th wonder of the world. We aim to promote alternative sources of vanilla in order to increase access to this unique spice to the world.
